Here is what critics are saying about the BRIMSTONE, the new supernatural Western series from Zenescope. Preorder issue #2 today and follow us on !

Ain't It Cool News:
~ I love me a good genre mash-up and this seems to both respect and admire the best aspects of both horror and Westerns. There's a real DIRTY DOZEN/CUT THROATS NINE vibe to this book, where the "heroes" are as grimy as the monsters they are battling.

~This isn't your typical Zenescope comic. It's a hard core horror Western with awesome covers by Ben Templesmith and Greg Horn. Can't wait to see the bullets fly in the next issue when our posse and the agents of our Indian curse collide.

Fangoria:
~ [A] solid blend of horror and western.

~ Artist Hyunsang Michael Cho lends an interesting look to the western landscape, illustrating the mornings with a beautiful bright yellow and candle-lighting the nighttime interiors. His character design, meanwhile, fits each protagonist's grizzled skill set.

~ With a setup neatly established, this seven-issue miniseries really kicks off with a quick pace and copious action and serves to whet a reader's appetitive for all the guns, demons, and explosions in store for upcoming issues.
WatchPlayRead.com:
~ Artist Hyunsang Michael Cho is a badass··· you almost think you should be reading it from a hardcover graphic novel that you shelled out $50 for. If there was one thing that sold me on continuing to follow this series, it's the artwork.

~ The look and feel of the characters are just so visually appealing you can't help but find yourself flipping through the pages just admiring them. The creatures/undead are even better, from the first glance of them, I caught myself with a grin on my face.

~ I found myself spellbound as I read the comic, easily blocking out the world as I quickly went cover to cover.

MajorSpoilers.com:
~This issue reads like a Grindhouse movie from the mid to late 70's ··· All the characters and the story add up to a rollicking good time.

~The artwork by Hyunsang Michael Cho was simply amazing. I have never heard of this guy before, but now that he has popped up on my radar he will stay there.
Chud.com:
~The painted art by Hyunsang Michael Cho is quite terrific: like a lot of artists working in the horror vein these days, he's comparable to Clayton Crain, but he gets a rougher texture that evokes the grit and dust of a classic Western

~I like the exuberance of the storytelling from Michael Lent & Brian McCarthy, and they've done an excellent job of revealing just enough of their story to get us hooked
NFamousGamers:
~Lent and McCarthy have an interesting story going on here as they bait the reader with just enough horror to keep them on the edge.

~The art by Cho is amazing. Reminiscent of 30 Days of Night or some early Vertigo books, the art draws you in with its subtlety.

~I look forward to reading the second issue of Brimstone as soon as it becomes available.
Comicbook Newbie:
~First thing I noticed was the artwork. Dark and gloomy but a perfect match for the storyline. The storyline was not what I expected. There is definite cause and effect with an easy to follow purpose. For my way of thinking it was spot on. I was taken back into the old west and caught a glimpse of the Native American spirit world in action.

~Rating: 8.5 of 10 NEWBIE RE-READS

Unwinnable.com:
~Michael Lent and Brian McCarthy's story has the feel of an old horror movie. Not something as camp as the zombie movies of the seventies, but something that feels real. Something that preys on the weak, the scared, and the obtuse.

~Brimstone has the same feel as a western epic
DavidsBeenReading.blogspot.com:
~I want to mention the artwork of Brimstone #1. It is stunning, with each panel looking more like a painting than a scene from a comic book. The artist Hyunsang Michael Cho has complimented the story brilliantly with the art. This style of artwork really fits with the rustic, old West feel of the book and it is some of the most innovative and beautiful art I have ever seen in a comic.

~Brimstone #1 is a stellar introduction to a story which appears to be unlike anything Zenescope have ever published in the past ··· Brimstone #1 comes with high recommendations, especially if you are looking for something slightly different to what else is on offer by the publisher.
Omnicomic:
~ I'm a sucker for the Wild West so I really enjoyed this issue. The artwork sets the mood really well and I enjoyed the varying setting and colors used to introduce the main characters. The style during the attacks in the town where we get a glimpse of the "unsettled spirits" gives them a smoky eerie feel that I really enjoyed. Nothing irks me more than monsters that aren 't creepy and that is NOT the case here.

~Interested? Great, you should be. Check out Brimstone #1 in stores and I think you'll be entertained as well. Happy reading.
